Les Means

“I have been teaching people to drive on the Island since I qualified as an approved driving instructor in 1987”

My aim, since then has been to provide high quality structured tuition ensuing each individual learns at a pace precisely suited to them. I am proud to say that in my time as an instructor, with thoughtful and structured tuition, I have enabled hundreds of people, from all walks of life, not only to pass the test, but to also attain a very high standard of driving.

I am one of the Island’s most experienced instructors and also one of the highest qualified instructors in the U.K. I am the only instructor on the Island and one of less than 1% of all driving instructors in the whole of the U.K. to have attained a B.A. Honours degree in Driver Education.

I am fully C.R.B. checked, and to ensure my continued professional development, I have studied for and attained:

  • AEB Diploma in driving instruction
  • City and Guilds 7307 Further Adult Education Teaching Certificate
  • Become a tutor for the Diploma in Driving Tuition
  • Registered lecturer for the IW Council Road Safety Department
  • DVSA Top Grade A
  • BA Honours degree, Driver Education

My credentials also allow me to organise and lead the pre-driver training course for the VIth form at the Nodehill Campus.

I actively encourage parents or partners, whenever possible, to observe the driving lessons and offer guidance for structuring practise outside of the formal lesson environment.

Virtually all my pupils come to me from personal recommendations and I frequently teach people to drive having taught their parents to drive years earlier.

I welcome all enquiries. If you would like any information on learning to drive, please call
